Dr. Pasi Reinikainen
Education Consultant, Finland

Keynote Title: The Relationship between Training and Development of Teachers and PISA Results: The Case of Finland
 
Dr. Pasi Reinikainen has worked for over 20 years in education evaluation, policy-making and research. He has held various leading positions in Finland and abroad such as Secretary-General of the Finnish Education Evaluation Council, Chief consultant of Public Education Evaluation Commission in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the EU’s Resident Twinning Advisor in Egypt and as Leading International Expert in Teacher Standards Development in Jordan. Nowadays, he is working as an advisor on Ukrainian school reform. Dr Reinikainen has also worked with the OECD, in the EU and the EC. His work has been awarded by many national and international bodies, for example, FERA and IEA’s Bruce H. Choppin Memorial Award 2008.  Pasi has written more than 70 publications, worked as a chief editor and editorial board member of many scientific journals and publication series and been an invited keynote speaker at various international conferences. 

Dr. Salwa Al-Jassar
Kuwait University, Kuwait

Keynote Title: The Evolution of Teaching: Teaching less for more in Life and the Longer Term
 

Dr. Salwa Al-Jassar is the first woman elected as member of Kuwait’s National Assembly (2009-2013). She was Chairman of Kuwait’s Educational & Financial Committees. Whilst in office, she passed 27 Laws & 44 Amendments. She is currently Senior Faculty at Kuwait University and a member of various academic and social networks. Dr. Salwa has published extensively in worldly peer reviewed journals and has been invited as a keynote speaker in a number of international conferences in the USA, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia and Europe. Dr. Salwa is participating as a keynote speaker at the SMET education conference in April 2020. She is also a board and panel member of dissertation committees at leading regional universities in Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Salwa has authored a number of books in the field of education and has won the regional Teaching Excellence Award for 2006 and 2018.


 
 
Dr. Pedro José Arrifano Tadeu

Keynote Title: Different Approaches in Mathematics Education: Board Games and Technology

Professor in the field of Mathematics Education at Polytechnic of Guarda (IPG), Post-Doc in Problem solving Skills at Kindergarten (Institute of Education, Faculty of Education, Sakarya University, Turkey), Ph.D. in Didactical and Technology - specialization in Didactical Mathematics (UTAD, Vila-Real), master's degree in Mathematics Education, degree in Mathematics Education (Faculty of Education, Coimbra University). Dean of HEI - School of Education, Communication and Sport, Polytechnic of Guarda, since 01/2015. Member of the Executive Commission of CEI - (Centro de Estudos Ibéricos http://www.cei.pt/cei/estrutura.htm) since 01/2015. Member of the board of UDI from 02/2012 until 12/2014 (Research Unit for Inland Development http://www.ipg.pt/udi/). Develops research in the area of Mathematics Education, ICT, Multicultural Education, ICT and Inclusion, Innovation in Education and Entrepreneurship Education. Has several scientific publications and develops activity with different HEI from Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Albania, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Brasil, Colombia, Cabo-Verde, Angola among others, is evaluator for ERASMUS+ Portuguese Agency and European COST projects.  

Dr. Rachel Mamlok-Naaman
The Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel

Keynote Title: Inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning science
 
Dr. Mamlok-Naaman is employed in the chemistry group at the Department of Science Teaching, the Weizmann Institute of Science, where she was the head of the National Center for Chemistry Teachers for 16 years (until one year ago), and the coordinator of the chemistry group at the Department of Science Teaching. In my work, she use the experience which I gained as a chemistry teacher who taughed high school students for 26 years, and as a regional consultant for chemistry teachers. Dr. Mamlok-Naaman is the coordinator of chemistry teachers' programs in the framework of the Rothschild-Weizmann MSc program for science teachers, and was one of the leaders of projects in the framework of the European Union (the FP7 programs) in Israel - PROFILES and TEMI. In addition, she is (1) an IUPAC CCE titular member, and the secretary of the EuCheMS DivCED, (2) the ICS contact person for all matters of Chemistry Education and relevant activities, and (3) a member in editorial and advisory boards of journals and organizations of science education.


 

Dr. Urve Venesaar
Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia

Keynote Title: Entrepreneurship Competence Model to Support a more Systematic Development of Entrepreneurship Education at all Educational Levels in the Country
 
Dr. Urve Venesaar has worked over 25 years at the Tallinn University of Technology teaching and researching entrepreneurship and has participated in around 140 publications. Her current research programme includes entrepreneurship and SME development; internationalisation of SMEs, entrepreneurship policy; entrepreneurship education; e-government issues. She has coordinated the integration of entrepreneurship education courses in the curricula of all specialities of Tallinn University of Technology. She is leading a Group on Entrepreneurship Research at the School of Business and Governance of Tallinn Technical University. She has participated in a number of international research project on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education. She is also a coordinator of Doctoral Studies in the field of business administration. Urve Venesaar is a Faculty member of the ESU - European University Network on Entrepreneurship. And she is an editor-in-chief of the journal “Research in Economics and Business: Central and Eastern Europe”.


Dr. Lilia Hallim
Faculty of Education, UKM, Malaysia

Keynote Title: Integrated SMET (Science, Mathematics, Entrepreneurship and Technology) Education: Malaysian Perspective
 
Dr. Lilia Halim is a professor in Science Education and her research interest and work revolves around three main research thrusts; a. Investigating and developing science teachers pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), b. propagating pedagogical model for promoting innovative thinking in science and now known as STEM education and c. exploring the role of non-formal science learning in the Malaysian context. Lilia Halim is also an expert and resource person to various organizations that include Regional Centre for Science and Mathematics Education (RECSAM), World Wide Fund- Nature, Malaysia and International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) Netherlands. She has written practically-oriented books for science and physics teachers, co-editor of books about science (teacher) education, articles in local and international referred journals and article reviewer of various international research journals.
